“ Small cafe with very tasty food. Claudio (owner) was more than happy to make a healthy dinner for me, including a California dinner salad with chicken and a plate of sauteed veggies, which were cooked perfectly. Overall Avery nice experience and very reasonable prices! ”
“ A lovely “Mom & Pop” restaurant. We are so glad to have patronized this establishment. Came for Saturday morning breakfast. Everything was excellent!! ”
“ Came here for breakfast and it was exactly what we needed after a long night. The California omelette was fantastic and our server was very friendly. The building is a little snug so I imagine it can get little crowded but we were having a late breakfast so there was plenty of space for us. ”
“ I almost went to Starbucks for a bite to eat to go and a coffee, but I came here instead. I am so glad I did! The service was so fast and the food is delicious. (I wish there was salt on the home fries because they were sort of bland, but that’s an easy fix.... and I wasn’t even expecting home fries with my order, so it was a nice surprise to have them at all!) There is nothing like quick fresh and filling food. ”
“ Delicious bacon egg and cheese with fresh squeezed OJ ”
“ the sinful salad is absolutely delicious. Fresh greens, tomatoes, radish, pickled onions, a bit of bacon and chicken warm from the grill. I had stopped in rye to charge my car at the nearby Marriott. The bistro at the Marriott is closed. I walked down the street and ordered this salad. I realized I had left my wallet in the car. I mentioned this to the owner who said in broken English - “no worries , Pay me some other time”. Such kindness. I will, in just a few minutes. And did I mention, the salad is delicious! I will make this little place a regular stop on my long trip from Boston to Maryland ”
“ This humble cafe tucked off Midland Avenue was a tasty and convenient place to grab a homesweet breakfast with an original twist. We arrived to a couple open tables among the regulars and seated ourselves. We were served coffee, but it was also a help-yourself situation. My spouse inquired after the vegetarian options and picked an omelet. I went with one of the house specialities, the Chapin: a plate with two eggs (mine over-easy), warm soft tortillas, a square of white cheese, some creme fresca/sour cream, a cup of black beans, and fried plantains. The plantains arrived on the plate caramelized and rich with sweet fresh flavor straight from the hot pan. I put it all together and had flavorful bites I’ve never had before. We also enjoyed trying to test our Spanish listening to the morning show on the tv nearby. What else can you want? Don’t let the humble interior fool you. The hostess was kind and the food is worth a trip when you’re nearby. It’s the kind of small business eatery that actually keeps this great country running. ”
“ Small Village Cafe definitely lived up to our expectations! It’s a quaint little breakfast/brunch place. I ordered the steak and eggs with pancakes and it was DELICIOUS! My boyfriend ordered the breakfast burrito and he raved about how the eggs were made just right. The service was excellent and so was the coffee. ”
